De-Clutter Your Mind and Change Your Career

Here is what you need to do now. Take a pen and paper and write down the things that you really want to do but don’t. Cross out everything but one. That is how much change you can realistically accomplish. Now you must have realized that you have been missing out on what you really love but you can make little changes in your life to indulge yourself. Nobody can just turn their life life around in a day.

The issue isn’t really what you want to do, but rather how much you want to do it. You have to want it hard enough to sacrifice everything else on your list. It must be something really special that you picked it out of everything else. However, evaluating why you weren’t doing it is a crucial matter. What was keeping you from doing it and if it mattered to you so much. De-cluttering your mind to understand what really matters and what can really contribute to the improvement of the quality of your life is not an easy task.

It is better said than done but these three ideas can really help you de-stress and de-clutter your life and mind to the point where you will be able to see what you really want, and how it can make your life better. It will be as clear as day, like a shining beacon on a dark stormy night.

Not Changing Your Career

There are some careers in which people aspire to do something, and their driven nature lets them really change the world. Working long hours and being hyper-focused is not difficult for them. Most employees don’t daydream about long working hours and if you want a job like that, you are never going to have it.

If you don’t have a career like that, you should look for a career change which will be meaningful for you. It doesn’t mean that you opt for the first volunteering job that you can find. An all-consuming job with little to no pay is not the answer here. You can work to make the world better and still get paid. Look for something that strikes a balance between the two.

Not Making Time for Loved Ones

Everyone hates being lonely and they need someone to rely on a cold rainy day or to come home to. That might sound desperate and needy to some but having a significant other doesn’t take away your independence. Rather, it makes you stronger to focus on other things that can attribute to your success.

Having a long-term commitment makes you a capable, responsible, and well-adjusted adult. If you have got one, you are lucky. Putting up barriers of a busy life and not giving enough time to them is the worst thing that you can do. Carve out the time for just the two of you. No one wants to feel like they are second to your career and that they are disposable.

Find out what is taking up so much of your time that you can’t have a decent family or personal life. Change it before it’s too late.

Not Indulging Yourself

Find yourself and carve out some ‘me’ time. It can be something as simple as doing morning yoga, a weekend breakfast at your favorite restaurant, or just the act of indulgence like drinking wine with your loved one. Taking a walk by yourself, grabbing donuts on your way home from work or reading a good book while you are in a bubble bath are just some of the few things.

If you find that you don’t have time for yourself, schedule it. As a professional, you must be good at time management. Carving out time for yourself and marking it in the calendar is not a selfish thing to do. Trust us, it would help you survive the bad times. Do something that no one else can do for you. Don’t let your career become everything; otherwise, your mind will cave in on itself and you will be too late to realize that.
